Bottle Cap Dog for the 2014 Lake Norman Folk Art Festival

Bottle Cap Dog

Grinder Snake

A piece of old, rusted metal went through the tub grinder at work while we were grinding wood to make mulch. The grinder magnet pulled it off the conveyor belt and dropped it to the ground. I found it there, twisted and gouged. The next day, it became this snake.

My first ever cornhole boards, made and painted for my daughter's wedding reception.

Van Gogh's Monster

My Entry for the Waking Up With Van Gogh show at the Hickory Museum of Art.

We all have our own monsters under our beds, keeping us awake at night.

Even so, I am not going to cut off my ear.

Patti lives in Hickory. Find her, buy her art.

Devil Head Blues

Devil Head in Poplar with bottle caps, painted and unpainted metal. Don't devils often tempt us by their flashing beauty?

I Only Have Eyes For You

Devil Jug by Michael Ball.

Monkey Business

One of the reasons I like Albert Hodge is that his pottery is filled with humor. Bawdy humor sometimes, but humor nonetheless. Fun art is good.

Excellent Hodge

An outstanding small face jug by Catawba County potter Albert Hodge.

Blue, Purple, Green, and Brown

Bottle Tree. My first.

Medusa the Temptress

Another view of Medusa. Even without snakes for hair, women make men do crazy things.

Blue Eyed Medusa

Medusa in painted sycamore, holly, and metal.

With blue eyes. I've known a few of those.

Snake Stump at The Warehouse

Devil Head at The Warehouse

My good friend Sarah is easily one of the most visionary, creative people I know. The Warehouse in Hickory is her home, her gallery, her creative space. It is enchanted.

Blurry Snakes

Thanks to Melissa Gibson for making these great photographs at Folk Art Festival At The Lake.

The Silence Of A Falling Star Lights Up A Purple Sky....

Blue-Eyed Snakes

A tower of dry-stacked rocks. I found these in the woods around my house, scattered up and down hills, in the waters of creeks and branches, and still holding their place in the foundations of long gone buildings.

Back in 1924, the good people of Catawba County dedicated their new courthouse, on the courthouse square in Newton, our county seat. This post card depicts the immediately preceding courthouse as it stood prior to 1924.

Folk Art Abstract

If I don't make it as a folk artist, I think I'll take up abstraction. This piece is my "Reflection On Spray Paint, Bottle Caps, and Plywood".

Four Fish On A Table

Each of these fish is painted on a thin poplar board I cut at the lumber yard where I work. Even I want a break from snakes now and then.
